It's been really wet in California. Here are a couple of pictures from my sister in Los Angeles. There is a cement trench that "directs" the L.A. River where to run around the city. We have walked my sister's dogs along the walking path when the river was just a trickle and you can see the bottom of the river, ducks paddling, turtles, etc. Not this week!
These pictures were taken at the beginning of the week. There is another round of storms expected today.
Here are Chris' latest quilt creations. When it just keeps raining, you have to stay home and keep dry. (In between mopping up muddy dog prints) Good time to quilt. Here's what she has to say:
Main fabrics came from "Quilted Angel" in Petaluma, CA. My husband Raul and son Isaac were on a post-Christmas road trip. Got a call from Isaac who said, "Dad's on his hands and knees looking at fat quarters, he wants to talk to you." Afterwards walking through the store Raul heard murmurs of, "What a nice man.....My husband would never buy fabric..."

That CA storm is scary! I've been thinking about Phyllis and wondering if they're safe. She's probably quilting, also. A very productive way to use one's time with everything outside sooo wet.
I like your sister's quilts. Daisy
Phyllis should be in a safe spot - no where near the burn area.
It's just wet!Last storm is slowing down this afternoon.
Part of my job is to wander aimlessly through the library staring at the ceiling looking for leaks (found 2, sigh!)
Chris does great work...both leak looking and quilts!
When we lived in CA it rained so hard that winter that we had a week off from school. It just rained and rained. We had a deep gorge that ended our back yard and it was pretty full.
Those causeways in CA for the water run off were used in a old sci-fi movie about ants mutanted by nuclear tests. Its a hoot! The ants start to use the tunnel offshoots for their nests. Yikes!!! The US Army saves the day. Natch in the 1950's.
